Dementia Care

Supporting a loved one who is living with dementia can be a challenging experience, taking both an emotional and physical toll on everyone involved. There may come a point when you have to make the difficult decision to explore respite, residential, or nursing dementia care options.

At Excelcare, we recognise that this can be one of the hardest decisions that you’ll ever make, and it is important to us that you make the right one. Our skilled, empathetic teams are here to support you and your family every step of the way.

Compassionate care for people living with dementia.

We always encourage people who are considering this move to come and visit our care homes. This allows them to meet the people who live in the care home and the friendly team, who together, form our care home community; providinga first-hand experience of daily life. Many people find this visit reassuring when making their decision. It's an opportunity to participate in planned events and activities or even share a meal with their family members.

We find that getting to know the care home, and especially the people who live and work there each day, helps people to feel comfortable and makes moving in a smoother experience as the home is then already familiar.

During your visit, you will be warmly welcomed into a safe, relaxed environment, with clear pictorial signage to help with orientation and independence. There are engaging feature areas throughout the care home, and sensory items to provide stimulation. We encourage the people living with dementia in our homes to be as independent as possible, and we always consider individual choice.

More about wellbeing

I am so glad he is here.

The level of care my husband has received has been consistently first-class.

Before he came to live in Rheola, I had checked out other care homes, spoken with relatives of residents in other care homes, read reviews, etc. I feel fully confident he is being cared for well, his health needs are being dealt with promptly, and he is being treated with respect.

I could not ask for anything better.

I am overwhelmed with the love and care my mum is receiving here.

Abbot has made such an absolute difference to her life and ours. Thank you for all the love care and compassion you are showing for my mum. Thank you also goes to the entertainment team who constantly bring a big smile to my dear mum's lovely face. The compassion every single person shows in Abbotts is a reminder of how society should be.
