Respite and Short-Term Breaks
With stays ranging from a few weeks to a few months, people receiving respite care can expect a warm welcome from our friendly team, as well as additional support to help them settle into the home as quickly as possible.
The care your loved one will receive is identical to the people who live here permanently. They will be able to access a range of new opportunities to socialise and make new friends; taking part in activities and events, and enjoy freshly-cooked foods during mealtimes. The only difference will be how long they stay with us.

Is respite care right for my family?
Shorter term stays allow you to have a break from full-time caring, to see to your own health needs or find space to get things done, whilst we look after your loved one in a dedicated, 24/7 professional home.
Respite care is also a helpful option for your loved one following a hospital stay. They’ll be supported by our dedicated team, with time to recuperate and an opportunity to regain some of their independence, whilst we work to create a community care package, or until their care needs have reduced so you can look after them at home again.
Shorter stays can also provide an insightful opportunity for your loved one to initially experience our care home before moving in permanently. This will allow the whole family to get a real feel for what it’s like living in one of our care homes, before committing to settling in for a longer period.

Our approach to respite care
It can be rewarding to care for a family member, but it’s important for both of you to have a break every so often. That’s why we believe it is important for our dedicated care homes to offer a variety of residential care options to your loved one, from dementia care, nursing care, nursing dementia care and end-of-life care. You can pre-book a place in advance in some of our homes, and others can provide respite care if and when they have a place available.
We recognise and value the fact that everyone is unique, with various likes, dislikes, life experiences, abilities, accomplishments, and aspirations. We also believe that these things are an important part of who you are, whether you live independently or require a little help.
This is why Excelcare’s approach is from a person-centred, feelings-based perspective, personally connecting with individuals regardless of their circumstances. It is crucial to ensure that we hear peoplee's opinions and respect their personal rights and choices. We also actively encourage continued family involvement and promote access to advocacy support.
We will work with you and your loved one to make sure their stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. You can expect a warm welcome and a dedicated support team to answer any questions you may have.
