I honestly feel like Ashlyn Care Home has saved my mum's life.
She has put on weight thanks to the great food and regular meals which she didn't do for herself at home. Her mental health has improved thanks to regular stimulation from the chats with the team and the events the home plans. She wasn't keen to go into a home to start, but now she has a new lease of life and is very happy being part of the Ashlyn family. All the team we meet are friendly and helpful and were great with advice for me when my mum first arrived. I really can't thank them all enough they do an amazing job despite it being very challenging at times.

At a glance
When people visit Okeley, one of the first things many comment on is our beautiful environment. Purpose-built and family-run, our three floors are separated into five smaller care suites. This design gives the people who live with us access to the variety a larger home offers, whilst still enabling individuals to be part of a close-knit community.
- 84 bedrooms, all of which feature an en-suite wetroom. Some overlook gardens and the courtyard, situated amongst five suites which are all named after different local roads. These are arranged over three floors
- Two sets of interconnecting rooms, for couples who want to stay together
- Quiet rooms
- Four gardens with fountains and seating areas
- Visitors welcome throughout the day
- A small kitchen can be found in each suite, perfect for visitors to make themselves at home
- All floors are wheelchair accessible
- Pets can be accommodated
- Car parking
Living with us and our approach
Our team is trained to a high standard and together we take great care in getting to know individuals’ likes, dislikes and preferences. We believe in the benefits of people having access to a variety of ways to stay active and engaged, so our Lifestyle Coordinators build a varied programme of meaningful activities and events in partnership with the people who live here, and their loved ones.
From games, quizzes and musical afternoons in the home to visits from local school children and regular day trips, there’s something for everyone here at Okeley.

Location and surroundings
Just a ten-minute walk to Chelmsford town centre, Okeley is in a superb location. With the A12, the A130 and the A414 just a few miles away, access is easy by road from all directions. Chelmsford station is a 15-minute walk away and has regular services to London Liverpool Street in just 30 minutes.
The local 54 and 56 buses stop right outside Okeley to take you to the town centre and local shops are within walking distance. Chelmsford is at the heart of some pretty Essex landscapes, which makes it an ideal starting place for pleasant country trips. There are also lots of interesting places to visit nearby, such as Hylands House and Ingatestone Hall.
