The home itself is beautiful, cosy, and has its own gardens, with an allotment and even a few animals! I honestly feel like Ashlyn Care Home has saved my mum's life.
She has put on weight thanks to the great food and regular meals which she didn't do for herself at home. Her mental health has improved thanks to regular stimulation from the chats with the team and the events the home plans. She wasn't keen to go into a home to start, but now she has a new lease of life and is very happy being part of the Ashlyn family. All the team we meet are friendly and helpful and were great with advice for me when my mum first arrived. I really can't thank them all enough they do an amazing job despite it being very challenging at times.

Many people are drawn to Aliwal Manor because of its cosy, intimate environment and the beautiful gardens complete with chickens and rabbits! There are also four communal lounges where people can relax with friends and family, or befriend others who live at our home. As a member of The Cinnamon Trust, we also encourage people bring their beloved pets along to live with them, where possible.

Living with us and our approach
At Aliwal Manor, we put people's wellbeing first. To do that, we focus on connecting to nature, with animals, and of course, with other people. Each bedroom overlooks our lovely gardens, and for animal lovers, they can visit our rabbits and chickens – there’s often a dog or two around to snuggle as well! The people who live here can also choose to get involved with fun activities and trips out and about.

Location and surroundings
Aliwal Manor is situated in the centre of the small market town of Whittlesey, six miles east of Peterborough. The local railway station – using the old spelling of Whittlesea – is a 15-minute walk away and takes you to Peterborough in eight minutes. From there, London is under 50 minutes away. Around five miles from the A47 and A15, and 20 minutes from A1, we are within easy reach of East Anglia, the Midlands and the North.
We are only a five-minute walk from the attractive town centre, with its shops, the museum, library and leisure centre. Located at the heart of the Fenland area, Whittlesey offers plenty of day trips to the beautiful cities of Ely and Cambridge, as well as the attractive towns of Oundle and Huntingdon.
