Amy and Nikki are Lifestyle Coordinators at The Willows Care Home in Milton Keynes and throughout the month of May, they challenged themselves to walk 100 miles to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Cancer Research UK is a charity close to both of their hearts, so they decided to step out of their comfort zone to help people living with cancer.
Nikki and Amy proudly told their colleagues and the people who call The Willows their home about the challenge they had decided to take on. Everyone agreed it was an admirable goal for both Nikki and Amy that would also support the work of a very important charity. After hearing the news, residents said they would like to join Amy and Nikki when they went out to get their steps up during lunch breaks and during trips into the community. Having support from the people who live at The Willows helped to inspire both Nikki and Amy and made them even more determined to complete the challenge.
Each day and with every step, Amy and Nikki reached closer and closer to their goal and before the end of the month, they had already surpassed the 100-mile mark. This didn’t stop them though and they were determined to go above and beyond their goal!
On the 31st of May when the challenge came to an end, Amy and Nikki had done 230 miles between them! An admirable effort and definitely something to be incredibly proud of!
In total, the pair raised £485 for Cancer Research which will help people living with cancer and their close family members.
Well done Amy and Nikki!
