Val lives at Goldenley Care Home in Benfleet, Essex and was recently delighted when she received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from her husband Colin in celebration of their 61st anniversary.

Val was emotional as she unwrapped the flowers and told the team how beautiful they were. The team then asked Val about her childhood and her life with her husband Colin.

She recalled, “I grew up in Westcliffe on sea and spent most of my life living near the seaside. I loved the fresh air and the beautiful views from the beach, especially in the warmer months.

“I remember meeting David and falling in love with him very quickly. We married in St Mary’s Church in Southend-o-Sea on the 27th of January 1962. Together we had two children, David and Jackie, who have since blessed us with 4 beautiful Grandchildren.

“Colin and Jackie come to visit me as regularly as possible, and I’m always delighted to see them.

Today marks 61 years since we got married and I still love him as much as the day we met. It brings back many happy memories of our life together and how much we loved to dance.”

The team said it was wonderful to hear about Val and Colin’s life together and the fond memories they share.
