Marian was proud to present a cheque to Dementia UK at Dovecote Manor Care Home after leading fundraising efforts to support this charity that is very close to her heart.

Marian’s mother lives with dementia at Dovecote Manor Care Home, so Marian is an advocate for the life-changing work of this charity and does what she can to support them. The services they provide to families who have had their lives changed by dementia are priceless and so fundraising is needed to ensure they can continue to provide life-changing support.

In her spare time, Marian is a member of The Order of Women Freemason (TOOWF), and as a ‘Master of the Lodge’ last year, Marian had the honour of choosing which charity they raised money for.  She chose Dementia UK and so throughout the year, all the money they raised through charitable events was collected to be presented in the form of a cheque.

Through a gentleman’s evening, a summer BBQ, a Christmas dinner, and multiple raffles throughout the last year, Marian and her friends from The Order of Women Freemasons raised a total of £1,556 for Dementia UK.

To present the cheque, the team from Dovecote Manor invited Alina, a representative from Dementia UK to visit, receive the donation, and share some information about the life-changing work Dementia UK does.

During her visit to Dovecote Manor, Alina met Marian and her friends from TOOWF, as well as the people living and working at Dovecote Manor. She explained about the important work of Dementia UK, and that by 2025, it is estimated over 1 Million people will have a dementia diagnosis. This reaffirms the importance of the charity and how donations will support many of us and our family members in the future.

Marian was delighted to speak about the charity work they had done throughout the year and then presented Alina with the cheque. In reaction to receiving this, Alina said, “On behalf of Dementia UK a massive thank you to Marian and all of the people who raised an astounding amount through their fundraising, we are incredibly grateful for their kindness and contributions.”
