Roger and Carrie have known each other since they were toddlers! They grew up in the same village and were friends from a very young age.

As they grew up, however, they each went down different paths and lost touch. Carrie began a career in the army and says she ‘did a little bit of everything’. From truck driving to feeding the horses and lots of other responsibilities in between. She recalls feeding one of the horses a sugar cube, then a few days later, the same horse came cantering over to her during a parade thinking she may have more sugar cubes!

Roger also joined the armed forces, but as a computer wizard, he worked away with the Navy as part of the secret services. One memory that stays with him to this day, is when he was asked to interview the famous Kray Twins!

During their careers in the Army and the Navy, Roger and Carrie were both married and went on to have children of their own. Later in life, both Roger and Carrie separated from their partners.

Roger was surprised to receive a call from Carrie one day when her computer broke! He happily went over to have a look at it, and during his visit, they had a much-needed catch-up.  A few weeks later, problems with Carrie’s computer persisted, so she called her trusty technical expert, Roger again!

They soon realised their relationship was more than just a friendship, so they began dating and very quickly moved in together! In 2014, they moved to Woolen Park in Milton Keynes, before deciding to tie the knot and get married! They kept the service private, with no guests other than their two witnesses. Roger wore a smart black suit and Carrie, a beautiful white lace blouse!

Roger and Carrie lived a happy life together, but unfortunately, things changed when Roger was diagnosed with dementia. He had to move out of their family home and into The Willows Care Home where he could get the dedicated support he required.

Carrie started her journey with dementia shortly after Roger and the pair found themselves reunited together at The Willows Care Home only 4 months after Roger moved in.

Now, they live together happily at The Willows Care Home and enjoy spending their days together, making new memories and recalling fond moments from the past.
