The people living and working at Sherrell House Care Home in Essex love any excuse to throw a big event, so knew that they had to turn the horse racing on the TV into a spectacular afternoon occasion.
The team worked hard to create a proper pub atmosphere, presenting everyone with a choice of sherry, beer, wine, cider and lots of delicious soft drinks. Everybody loved the variety of options and agreed that it really set the tone for an afternoon of entertainment.
The home projected the horse race on a big screen, so that everybody would be able to get a fantastic view. Everyone watched and cheered on their favourite horses, chatting amongst themselves about who they reckoned would take home the trophy at the end of the races.
But the activities did not stop there! After the race, singer Steve and Lifestyle Coordinator Pamela led a wonderful singalong, which the people living at the home got very engaged in. Steve has visited the home before to perform, and the residents loved him, so the team knew that they had to bring him back.
It was clear that everybody thoroughly enjoyed their busy Sunday afternoon, as they spent the rest of the evening with great big smiles on their faces!
