Hunters Down Care Home in Huntingdon recently joined in with celebrations for International Tea Day by hosting an afternoon tea party.

Everyone who lives at Hunters Down Care Home has one thing in common, and that is their love for afternoon tea. No matter the circumstances, serving tea and cakes in the company of friends and families is always a good time. Not only does this create opportunities to enjoy cherished time with loved ones, but also the option to enjoy a hot drink and some delicious cake.

International Tea Day was the perfect opportunity for the team at Hunters Down to host another exciting afternoon tea. With this day being a celebration of tea, the team ensured they had a wider variety of teas available for people to taste.

Friends, families, and people in the local community were invited to join the celebrations at Hunters Down for International Tea Day. With a shared love of tea and cake in the community, the event was very well attended.

The team took everyone’s tea orders, ensuring they were made the way each person liked them. This led to discussions around the room about how people take their tea. There was much debate about the best way to enjoy tea, the color it had to be, and whether to put sugar in it or not.

After giving everyone their drinks, the team served a delicious variety of cakes – from swiss rolls to strawberry trifle. There was something for everyone and lots of happy faces around the room!

Next, it was time to raise the energy with a sing-along to popular songs from the past. This included singing along to some wartime classics and rock and roll for the 50s/60s. Agnes and Janet, who live at Hunters Down, got up to show off their dance moves, while others opted to sing and move along from the comfort of their chairs.

Everyone had a wonderful day celebrating International Tea Day.  Ann, who lives at Hunters Down said, “I had a lovely afternoon and had a lot of fun singing with everyone.”
